Omanye Royal Kingdom Amplifies Voices for Gender Equality at CSW 69 Closing Ceremony

New York, NY – March 21, 2025 – The Omanye Royal Kingdom delegation participated in the closing session of the 69th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) at the United Nations, a pivotal event that also marked the first meeting of CSW 70. The session, chaired by Saudi Arabia with Vice Chairs from Cabo Verde and Costa Rica, highlighted the diverse perspectives and challenges nations face in advancing gender equality.

The closing ceremony underscored a strong call to action, urging member states to move beyond rhetoric and implement tangible measures to achieve the goals outlined in the Beijing Declaration. This resonated deeply with the Omanye Royal Kingdom’s mission to foster unity and empowerment through initiatives that address global challenges with innovative solutions.

Delegates from various countries voiced their concerns and affirmations regarding the Beijing Declaration, showcasing a range of priorities and challenges:

  • Several nations, including Poland, Tonga, Japan, Belarus, Chile, Mexico, Cameroon, Brazil, Indonesia, Russia, Switzerland, Tunisia, Columbia, Egypt, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Argentina, Libya, Dominican Republic, Djibouti, Mali, UAE, Central African Republic, Israel, Korea, Sierra Leone, and the Holy See, raised important points regarding the declaration.
  • Key issues included the clarity of language around gender, sexual and reproductive health, the definition of family and motherhood, addressing discrimination, and ensuring equitable representation and opportunities for women.
  • Tonga highlighted climate change as a significant threat, while several countries called for stronger language on sexual and reproductive rights and the need to combat racism and inequality.
  • Some countries expressed reservations about the use of the term “gender,” emphasizing the importance of recognizing diverse social, cultural, and religious values.

The presence of the Omanye Royal Kingdom at this crucial event reinforces the organization’s commitment to actively engage in global dialogues and contribute to actionable solutions that promote gender equality and women’s empowerment. As the global community looks ahead, the Kingdom remains focused on developing and supporting initiatives that align with this common vision of driving progress towards a more inclusive and equitable future.

The 70th session of the CSW will be chaired by H.E. Maritza Chan Valverde of Costa Rica, with Vice Chairs from Rwanda, Lebanon, Liechtenstein, and Romania. The session will continue to address the urgent need for gender equality and the full realization of women’s rights worldwide.
