Omanye Royal Kingdom attends the World Summit on the Information Society

New York, NY – March 19, 2025 – A delegation from the Omanye Royal Kingdom participated in the World Summit on the Information Society – Accelerating Gender Equality in the Digital Age: Leveraging WSIS+20 Milestones and Beyond at the 69th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69).  The event addressed the challenges and opportunities of digitalization, aiming to bridge digital divides and improve accessibility for all through collaborative efforts across multidisciplinary teams.

The delegation joined other distinguished guests to highlight global innovations led by women in STEM with presentations from the Netherlands, Norway, UN Women, Women at the Table, and WomenVAI demonstrating the transformative impact of women’s contributions to STEM. Projects included efforts to reduce domestic violence, empower women in agriculture, and enhance digital literacy training for women in rural areas. Further focus in the event was placed on empowering women entrepreneurs in Latin America with the BBVA Microfinance Foundation showcasing its work supporting women through digital finance and e-commerce tools, facilitating economic independence and growth.

The session emphasized the importance of involving multiple stakeholders in developing inclusive technologies to bridge digital divides. This aligns seamlessly with Omanye’s unwavering vision of breaking barriers and fostering equity in education, healthcare, and community development. Baroness Iris Menyah’s participation reaffirmed Omanye’s commitment to building inclusive systems where technology becomes a powerful tool to empower women and uplift entire communities, and underscored Omanye’s unwavering commitment to breaking barriers and fostering equity in education, healthcare, and community development; a core tenet of its mission to bridge gaps between communities and serve humanity.

While the advancements were inspiring, the session also shed light on persistent barriers including a lack of digital literacy among older and younger women in rural communities, insufficient infrastructure and connectivity to technology platforms in underserved regions, and the pressing need for robust digital and AI governance to protect and support users.
