The event, organized by Chika Oguh, founder of MyAfromania, aimed to bridge cultural gaps and offer attendees an immersive experience into the artistry, rituals, and communal spirit that define African celebrations.

Her Royal Majesty (HRM) Queen Vickylextar and a delegation from the Omanye Royal Kingdom were special guests at this one-of-a-kind event. Queen Vickylextar was not only a notable speaker but also bestowed the prestigious Illustrious Omanye Impact Award upon Chika Ugoh. This award recognized Chika’s outstanding achievements as an entrepreneur and innovator, and her dedication to advancing African culture through the dynamic fusion of business and education.

The event showcased various facets of African culture, including:

  • Traditional Yoruba Wedding Rites: The staged wedding featured the nuanced protocols of Yoruba marital traditions, expertly guided by the renowned Ajoke Alaga, celebrated for her ability to preserve the sanctity of these customs while incorporating contemporary flair.
  • Cultural Fashion Showcase: MyAfromania’s designs took center stage, highlighting the beauty and artistry of African fashion, from vibrant Ankara pieces to handcrafted accessories. The bride and groom’s attire, crafted from Aso-Oke, a traditional handwoven fabric, symbolized unity, royalty, and cultural pride.
  • Flavors of the Continent: Attendees were treated to a culinary journey through Africa, with a diverse array of dishes representing the richness of African cuisine.

The event also featured speeches by dignitaries, including Councillor David Hill and Professor Tony Bailetti, who acknowledged the importance of celebrating African culture and fostering community.
